This fantastic functional piece of Lacquerware is over a 100 years old. Lacquerware is perhaps the most distinctive of all Myanmar handicrafts and  is believed to have been made since the 13th century. Lacquerware was so highly treasured that Myanmar kings often presented lacquer objects as gifts to foreign emissaries. This bowl comes from the Inwa region and still has the original makers label. The radiating pattern design on the inside of the bowl was made by the artist running their fingers through the wet lacquer. This bowl is in great condition no chips or scratches. On the outside of the bowl there as two small areas of Tamil script, which are not too noticeable. 27.5 diameter x 7 cm high
